You can send files to others via email, by using a cloud storage service, by placing the file on an USB stick and having the stick delivered, and so on. The important thing is not how you choose to send files to others. The important thing is to ensure the files remain safe. That is why you should encrypt them before sending them.

Independent software development company MacPaw came up with an application that addresses this situation: the free and user friendly Encrypto. It uses an AES-256 algorithm to encrypt files and folders. So before you send someone a file, make sure to encrypt it with MacPaw’s Encrypto.

Encrypto is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Get it right here on FindMySoft.
Encrypto is also available for Apple’s OS X. Get it from the Mac App Store.

As expected, a setup wizard will help you install Encrypto on your Windows PC. Said setup wizard is presented in the Quick Look video that accompanies this article. Check it out to see how easy it is to get Encrypto up and running on a Windows PC.

The Quick Look video doesn’t show the “Welcome to Encrypto!” prompt that shows up the first time you run this encryption tool. This prompt presents the following: it tells you that Encrypto uses AES-256 encryption, that you can include a password hint, and that Encrypto can be used on Windows and Mac to decrypt data. The Welcome prompt also invites you to subscribe to MacPaw’s newsletter and stay informed about new product releases, major updates, and special offers.

You can encrypt a file from Encrypto’s dark-themed, good looking, and user friendly interface. Drag and drop the file you want to encrypt or use the Add File dialog to import the file you want to encrypt. Enter a password, add a password hint if you want to, and let Encrypto do its thing. Once it’s done encrypting your file, it will let you save it to the location of your choice.

You can also decrypt a file from Encrypto’s dark-themed, good looking, and user friendly interface. Drop or load the encrypted file, enter the correct password, and let Encrypto do its thing. Once it’s done decrypting the file, it will let you save it to the location of your choice.

Encrypto integrates with Windows Explorer. This means that if you right click a folder or a file, the right click context menu will display an option to encrypt it with Encrypto.

Encrypto is great! It’s free, it has a beautiful interface, it lets you easily encrypt and decrypt files, it integrates with the right click context menu. MacPaw really did a great job with this encryption tool for Windows and Mac.

Pros

Encrypto is available for Windows and Mac OS X. Installing Encrypto on a Windows PC is an effortless task. Encrypto has a dark-themed interface that is good looking and very easy to use. Encrypto can be used to encrypt and decrypt files or folders. Encrypto integrates with the right click context menu. Encrypto is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
